Rear glass

Backglass replacement.

Rear windows for sedans, SUVs and pickups — set at your home, office or jobsite, with the defroster and electrical connections put back the way they were.

A backglass is rarely just glass. Most carry a printed defroster grid, and many also carry a radio or GPS antenna element, a third brake light pass-through, or a wiper spindle. Every one of those has to be transferred or reconnected correctly, or the replacement looks fine and quietly stops working.

What the job includes

  • Bonded rear glass on sedans, SUVs and hatches, and sliding or fixed rear glass on pickups.
  • Defroster grid tabs soldered or connected and the grid tested for continuity before we leave.
  • Antenna leads and third brake light pass-throughs reconnected.
  • Rear wiper assembly transferred and torqued where the vehicle uses one.
  • Tempered fragments vacuumed out of the cargo area, rear seat backs and the tailgate channel.

Pickup rear glass

Trucks add their own wrinkle: sliding rear windows, power sliders and privacy-tinted panels each use a different part, and the cab opening is unforgiving about a poorly seated seal. Tell us the cab configuration and whether the slider is manual or powered when you ask for a price.

Curing and weather

Bonded rear glass is set in urethane and needs cure time before the vehicle is safe to drive, just like a windshield. The technician gives you the specific safe drive-away time on site based on the adhesive and that day's temperature and humidity — which, in the Lowcountry, genuinely varies.
