Insurance Claim or Cash Quote? How to Compare Both

Insurance and cash are both valid ways to handle auto glass replacement. The better choice depends on the policy, the vehicle, and what you value—not a universal rule.

Start with the policy you actually have

Confirm whether the policy includes physical-damage coverage for the loss and ask the carrier how safety-glass claims are handled. South Carolina's deductible rule can affect covered safety glass, but it does not add coverage to a liability-only policy.

Ask for a complete cash quote

A useful comparison includes the correct glass, moldings or one-time-use parts, mobile installation, and ADAS recalibration when required. A low number that leaves out a required part or procedure is not a fair comparison.

Consider the practical differences

Carolina Auto Glass provides direct insurance billing where applicable and cash quotes. We can explain each path, but the choice remains yours.

  • Insurance requires a claim and carrier authorization.
  • Cash avoids opening a claim and can be straightforward when coverage does not apply.
  • Part options may differ by vehicle and availability.
  • Either path still requires correct installation and safe drive-away guidance.

Ask for both paths using the same vehicle information. Compare quote options.
